Tablets price differently from injections, and not only in the headline figure. There is no vial and no concentration, so the cost per month is simply the pack price — none of the mg-per-mL arithmetic that makes injectable quotes hard to compare applies. The oral GLP-1 products are Wegovy tablets and Rybelsus, both semaglutide.

The other structural difference is that the compounded route, which is what makes injectable GLP-1s dramatically cheaper for some people, largely does not exist for tablets. So a tablet is competing against the branded injectable price rather than against the compounded one, and a comparison that puts a tablet next to a compounded vial is comparing two different markets.
Common questions
- Why do quoted GLP-1 prices vary so much?
- Because the quotes are not measuring the same thing. A membership fee, a per-vial price, and a per-pen price all describe different quantities, and the dose you are on determines how long that quantity lasts. Converting everything to cost per milligram is the only way to compare them directly.
- Does insurance usually cover this?
- Coverage is far more common for type 2 diabetes indications than for weight management. Whether your specific plan covers your specific indication is something only your plan documents can answer.
