Microdosing is not a concept that appears in any approved label. Every schedule on this site is transcribed from prescribing information, and none of those documents describes a sub-therapeutic maintenance dose — the lowest number in each is a starting dose on the way up, held for a fixed interval and then increased. So there is no labelled microdose to quote, and no trial designed around one to cite.
That is why forum accounts are the main source here, and why they should be read as accounts rather than as evidence. People posting about a microdose are describing an individual protocol, usually with a compounded vial whose concentration they may not state. Without the concentration, a dose someone reports is not a number you can act on — the same units figure is several different doses depending on the vial.

Check the concentration printed on the vial you are actually holding. The same dose in milligrams is a completely different mark on the syringe at a different concentration. If the number here does not match what your prescriber told you, trust your prescriber.
Compounded vs brand-name: what actually differs

- Prepared by a pharmacy, not the original manufacturer — so there is no FDA-approved label for the exact preparation you receive.
- Much more restricted than during the 2024–25 shortages. Supply is smaller and less predictable than it was.
- Brand-name self-pay programmes have narrowed the price gap that made compounding attractive.
Compounded is usually cheaper but can change with the rules; brand-name costs more and is more predictable. Worth raising with whoever writes your prescription. FDA’s compounding pages have the detail if you want it.
Every product above holds each step before the next increase, and that spacing is the whole design — it is what keeps gastrointestinal effects manageable while the dose climbs. Which product and which step suit you is a prescribing decision, not a comparison you can finish here.
