How to microdose semaglutide

You are trying to work out how much to draw or when to step up.

Reference and calculator, not medical advice. Dosing figures below are transcribed from FDA-approved prescribing information and link back to it. Last reviewed August 2026.

Microdosing is not a concept that appears in any approved label. Every schedule on this site is transcribed from prescribing information, and none of those documents describes a sub-therapeutic maintenance dose — the lowest number in each is a starting dose on the way up, held for a fixed interval and then increased. So there is no labelled microdose to quote, and no trial designed around one to cite.

What can be given is the labelled schedule and the arithmetic. If you are drawing a fraction of a labelled dose, the conversion below is the part that has to be right — and it depends entirely on the concentration printed on your own vial, which for compounded preparations is not standardised.

mg → syringe units converter

U-100 syringe. Formula: (dose ÷ concentration) × 100.

12.5units on a U-100 syringe
= 0.125 mL  ·  2.5 mg at 20 mg/mL

Check the concentration printed on the vial you are actually holding. The same dose in milligrams is a completely different mark on the syringe at a different concentration. If the number here does not match what your prescriber told you, trust your prescriber.

Wegovy titration schedule

Semaglutide · once weekly · subcutaneous injection · as published in the prescribing information

StepDoseNotes
Weeks 1–40.25 mgStarting dose
Weeks 5–80.5 mg
Weeks 9–121 mg
Weeks 13–161.7 mg
Week 17+2.4 mgMaintenance dose

This is the labelled default. Holding at a step longer than shown is common practice and is a decision for your prescriber. Transcribed from the Wegovy prescribing information (label revised 30 June 2026); checked against that label on 7 August 2026.

The Wegovy schedule has 5 steps and tops out at 2.4 mg, but the top step is a ceiling rather than a target — plenty of people maintain below it indefinitely. Which step is right for you is the one thing this table cannot tell you, and the one thing your prescriber can.

Common questions

What is the starting dose of Wegovy?
The prescribing information lists 0.25 mg once weekly as the starting dose, held for the first four weeks before any increase.
What is the maximum labelled dose of Wegovy?
2.4 mg once weekly, reached through the stepped schedule shown above.
How many units is 1.7 mg at 5 mg/mL?
34.0 units on a U-100 syringe. The arithmetic is (dose ÷ concentration) × 100, and it only holds if the concentration on your vial matches.

Every dosing figure on this page is transcribed from an FDA-approved label and links back to it. Conversions are arithmetic you can repeat by hand. Nothing here is reviewed by a clinician, and this site does not employ one — which is exactly why what I do publish stays traceable to its source.
